Hunza Blossom Season: A Traveller's Guide (and Navroz)

Gilgit Adventure Club18 June 20261 min read

For two or three weeks each spring, Hunza and Nagar turn pink and white with apricot and cherry blossom. Here's when to come, where to go, and how the season ties into Navroz.

Few sights in Asia rival Hunza in full blossom. For a short window each spring, the terraced orchards of Hunza and Nagar erupt in apricot, cherry, almond and peach blossom, framed by snow peaks like Rakaposhi.

When to come

The bloom usually runs late March to mid-April, starting in the lower valleys and climbing higher day by day. It overlaps with Navroz (around 21 March) — the spring new-year, celebrated warmly across the region with food, music and renewal.

Where to see it

  • Karimabad & Altit — blossom against the historic forts.
  • Duikar (Eagle's Nest) — sunrise over a sea of pink with Rakaposhi behind.
  • Nagar valley — quieter orchards and village life.
  • Hopper — blossom meeting glaciers.

Tips

  • The window is short and weather-dependent — build in a couple of buffer days.
  • Mornings are best for light and calm air.
  • Travelling with a local team means we track the bloom and adjust your route in real time.
